Mass produced pre-built Laptop units and P.C systems are great for those who don’t understand how to build a computer or know the inner workings; the tech is often scaled down and therefore a lot cheaper. The more of the units that are made the cheaper they will cost to produce minus the added time and labour costs.

It’s ok having something that is mass produced with hundreds, thousands or even millions of virtually identical copies of the same model; it will be a lot easier to get a replacement that way if it goes wrong.

Most things manufactured these day’s are mass-produced, but the key is to find something that has a smaller number of units that have been built if you truly want something that is unique.

All parts that make up any computer system, including laptops are mass produced. Though with a pre-built system the number of units will be in the thousands and the generic tech inside could be in the a lot more.

When you buy a series of individual mass produced pieces of hardware that have a limit quantity of units in the hundreds, those parts are usually more expensive because of the lesser number of units created with the base mould; that base mould costs money to make and they have to recover the costs from that.

Once you have selected the right hardware to build your computer system, you can have something that is truly unique in terms of the hardware; of course the software will be mass produced, but you can customise the environment within the Operating System to reflect you and your personal style.

With Laptop’s you don’t have much choice and you are limited to the generic tech that is built for that system, and if it goes wrong, it’s not as easy as swapping out the out parts for new, as there will be many different variations of that tech out there and you will have to find the one that is compatible.
